In her latest work, Papou offers viewers a live, raw, primal and tactile painterly experience that started in the early morning hours and progressed into the night at Panova in Vancouver.
Papou
Exploring the boundaries between narrative within the composition itself and live performance that extends beyond the confines of the work. Rooted in time & space & drawing from childhood memories of the Florida Bayous & her Grecian & Native American ancestry, Papou brings fragments of symbolism, lived environments, and vibrancy of colours to coalesce.
Through music, movement & gestural markings along with sand from the shores of Jericho beach, abstractions take shape to depict figures of the known yet unknown. Through this live & performative painterly experience, Papou invites viewers into the creation of the work where the past and present blur and the finished & unfinished extend beyond the confines of the canvas & into the aftermath of the work.
